Start Up Grants
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), working in cooperation with Lakes & Prairies Child Care Aware, announces the availability of child care provider grants.
Start Up Grants are intended to provide support to providers just getting started. Providers can request funding for items required by licensing or the fire marshal. Such items could include fencing for a play area or railings for stairways.
If you receive a grant, you will be required to complete a certain amount of training, with the exception of Emergency grants. The approved training needs to be completed before reimbursement. The requirement is 12 hours of training for awards of $1 to $500 and 16 hours of training for awards of $501 and above. The cost of participating in this required training is your responsibility. You may choose to include the cost of the required training as part of your grant application. The timeline for completing the training requirement will be outlined in your award letter if you receive this grant. Approved trainings can be found at http://www.developtoolmn.org/app/default.aspx
Start Up Grants are available until March 1st or until funding is depleted.
