Who is eligible for food support? You might be.

The Food Support program is a county-run, federal program that helps Minnesotans with low income get the food they need for sound nutrition and well balanced meals. In Minnesota, an estimated 40% of seniors and as many as 30% of individuals and families who are eligible for the program do not receive it. The biggest reason is that they did not know they were eligible.

In Minnesota, the name of the Food Stamp Program has changed to Food Support (FS) Program. Food stamps and food coupons no longer exist. Today, eligible persons shop using an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card -- like a bank debit card. There are no more counting stamps, delays in the grocery line, or tearing coupons from books.
